What are signs of a scorpion sting?

First of all, you should know that all scorpions are venomous. They carry venom to paralyze their prey, and protect themselves.

A scorpion sting is painful and usually felt at immediate contact and they often sting multiple times in a row. Scorpions sting when they feel threatened. It is common to be stung when you are not expecting it; Many times you could have threatened a scorpion without even knowing it. Some examples would be something like;

Stepping on one, reaching into a dark place (like a bag) that they are inside of, sitting on one, putting on a shoe (that they are inside of), some people are stung during their sleep when a scorpion will climb on the bed and feel threatened when you move etc.

A scorpion’s sting could be described as feeling like:

  • A sharp Pain

  • Numbness

  • Tingling

  • Burning

  • Sometimes swollen throat or tongue

  • Painful

  • Tender to touch

  • Muscle Cramps

A scorpion sting could be described as looking like (please keep in mind that each person’s body reacts differently);

  • Red

  • Swollen

  • Bruising discoloration

If you have been stung by a scorpion it is important to watch your symptoms to make sure that you aren’t having an allergic reaction. A lot of people will put ice on the site of the sting for some relief.
